OMG OMG OMFG!!!

Can a movie get any better??? I went to an advanced screening of 300 and... IT ROCKS!!! Everything about the movie is perfect: the music, the FXs, the landscapes, the skies (OMG the skies are the most beautiful thing ever!), the performances, etc.

The story is simple enough, but it does have some depth to it. Maybe there's not a lot of character development in those 2 hours, but the movie and the characters don't need it. They were like that. period. no need to change or advance. That's what made ir great. They were as they were, no excuses nor apologies. And you buy into that world. you may share their opinion or not, but you do believe that for them, it was the right and only thing to do.

The music is awesome, and it's an amazing companion for the imagery. The slow-mo & fast forward battles are incredible! It's almost as if it were a dance routine (a macabre at that, but gorgeous nontheless). Leonidas solo fight during the first battle it's something to behold, and Stelios and Astinos ensemble fight it's one of the most captivating fight scenes I've ever seen (and I do love a good battle scene). I was enthralled with all the battle choreographies, the way they used their shields and spears, the "falange" formation, everything!!!!

The men... well... what can I possibly say? I think I suffered from mild dehydration watching that movie. They were ripped!!! ALL of them!!! Girls... go see this movie. you won't regret it, trust me.

Gerard Butler: incredible as always. That man acts with his eyes. if the movie had only captured his eyes, with no other thing and no dialogue at all, you could still follow the story through his eyes. He was a believable king, and had a captivating on screen presence.

Michael Fassbender was awesome!!! as Stelios, he had some of the best dialogues on the movie. He is completely mental and you end up loving him for it.

Lena Heady: absolutly loved her as Queen Gorgo!!! Powerful character. I tend to hate when screen writers add things that weren't orginally on the story (Arwen anyone?) but Gorgo and the whole senate plot line is amazing and goes perfectly well with the rest of the movie. and Gorgo kicks a$$!!!!!

so, that's it. can't wait to see it again and again and again!

so... inspired by my very best friend, I'm posting a new entry here.

Next monday I'm starting Uni... yet again! Thing is, I was studying to become an English Translator, was doing really good at school and all, but I hit a rough patch last year and decided to take a sort of hiatus. So, the same day I left Uni, I quit my job. I took a semester off, trying to clear my head... and... a new year started.

To tell you the truth, I wasn't so sure about taking Uni up again. I thought I had lost my drive and the passion I had for studying (yeah, I'm sort of a nerd, so what? deal with it!). I have been studying non-stop for almost 10 years, I already have a degree on Advertising, why did I need to study anything else? That was my dilema at the beginning of this year.

Thank Goodness, I'm developing my own project with a friend, so that's kept me quite busy in the "work" department, but... study? again? why OH WHY?

and then... I saw the light! hahaha!!! My best friend in the world asked me to help her study for a final she had (we are both studying the same and at the same Uni. this year we are gonna be classmates, ain't that great?) So... we studied for a whole weekend non-stop. and I found it again. The thrill of learning new things, of applying your new-found knowledge, the nervousness and adrenaline of waiting for an exam. All those things that I loved, I discovered that I still loved them.

So today, one week shy of starting yet another year of school, I can barely wait!!!

finally, my life is back on track again and in my hands for me to control. love that feeling, don't you???

so... a couple of days ago, I made some icons for Diana Gabaldon's saga, "Outlander". I had been talking with my friends about which actors we would like to see in a hypothetical movie. So that's where I got the idea of giving "faces" to the characters. Some I like, some I don't. But I needed some actors and I chose those.
These Icons are not supposed to be artistic or cool. They are just to "see" the characters. So they are very simple.
Be my guest to comment or suggest other actors.

Hi... new at this, so bear with me. I'm trying to figure out how to use this LJ thing. Not very successful at the moment. I'm kind of a techno-dummy sometimes. But I will prevail!!! hahaha!!!
